The Master Plan Committee evaluated the existing playground equipment at each of the 5 playgrounds in Lansdowne. The Committee made an initial recommendation, which was subsequently approved by the Board, to purchase new KOMPAN playground equipment for the Mill Dam and Rocky Creek playgrounds. The playground sub-team considered these locations and decided Mill Dam and Rocky Creek are the best locations for initial upgrades. The other playgrounds are being evaluated for upgrades in 2022.
Mill Dam Playground
- Explorer Dome - One of Kompan’s most popular pieces of equipment, the dome features meandering nets, ropes, and wobbly play. The structure is large enough for many kids to climb simultaneously and the structure is aesthetically pleasing.
- Double zipline - The playground will feature a double zipline on the other side of the path from the existing playground.
- Variety of swings - The swing set will include a basket swing, traditional swings, an infant swing, and a You and Me Swing (to allow parent and child to swing together).
- Double Tower Play structure - There will also be a more traditional playset for younger children with slide and climbing features.
Rocky Creek Playground
The Rocky Creek Playground is small, but will have a unique playground design that would appeal to a wide range of ages and smaller activity stations for the younger crowd. The playground currently has limited access to the LOTP community and a plan for improved access will be developed when upgrading this playground.
