Lansdowne Update
Volume 1, Issue 2
A service of the Lansdowne on the Potomac HOA Communications Committee
Dave Nemetz, Chair
Town Hall Meeting: Concerned that an HOA issue is not getting enough attention? Curious about what the Board is working on in 2010? Have a question for management? Want to propose some changes to the rules? Unsure about what the HOA can and can't do for you? Have a general grievance you want to air? Want some answers?
These are just some of the reasons you should attend a BOD quarterly town hall meeting, where YOU set the agenda. The first meeting will be on Wednesday January 27th from 7 to 9 PM in the ballroom of the Potomac Club.
We invite you to come out and enjoy some refreshments while you chat with the Board about issues that matter to you.
Facilities and Grounds Committee: Are there any common areas in Lansdowne that need some sprucing up, either through landscaping or turf enhancements? How about improving or adding facilities in the neighborhood? The F & G Committee is starting to put together their wish list for 2010, and your input is needed. If there’s an area in our neighborhood that’s in dire need of attention, contact Peter at peterp@smartneighborhood.net and let them know where to look.
Relay For Life: The American Cancer Society wants everyone to have more birthdays! Less cancer, more birthdays! Find out how you can help by participating in the 2010 Relay for Life. This signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society is celebrated in thousands of communities across the United States every year. Join us for the Loudoun County Relay for Life events. Don’t miss your opportunity to help us to fight this terrible disease! Form a team and join in, volunteer or, for more information, go to www.easternloudounrelay.org.
Here are some other ways you can help the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life:
Cans for Cancer: If life is currently keeping you way too busy to help in any major fundraising event, please consider saving all of your aluminum cans and emailing us to have them picked up (cansforcancer@smartneighborhood.net). We strive to pick up the cans within a day or so of being notified. We then take the cans to a recycler and get paid for them. All funds go to the American Cancer Society.
Eat to help cure cancer: Go to any Glory Days Grill for lunch or dinner and send us the food receipt (not the credit card receipt). From January 1st to March 31, 2010, Glory Days is donating 10% of all receipts (Itemized, not your credit card receipt) to the American Cancer Society. You can scan and email them to cansforcancer@smartneighborhood.net or mail them to:

CMC: Another reminder - you can check your HOA account balances on line, through CMC’s website, www.cmc-management.com. Click on “Associa Access” on the left side of the page and follow the directions. Keep your account current, and you can use this service to make sure your account stays current -- and never get charged late fees again.
Crime Report(January 9- 24, 2010): A vehicle theft was reported in the 19200 block of Snider House Court in the Coton Commons section on January 9th. A larceny was reported in the 43300 block of Coton Commons Drive on January 22. No other crimes were reported in Lansdowne during the period.
If you have concerns regarding crime in Lansdowne, contact Deputy James Spurlock by calling (703) 771-5749, or e-mailing him, at james.spurlock@loudoun.gov.
Committee Meetings: February 1, Activities; February 2, Green; February 8, Safety & Security; February 9, Communications; February 16, Covenants; February 17, Technology.
All meetings are held in the Potomac Club conference room (right off the lobby), and all start at either 6:30 or 7 PM. Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
If you have any tips or events you’d like included in the next issue, send an e-mail to update@smartneighborhood.net, and we’ll get you included. No business solicitations, please!!
